Track Team Off to Texas Relays

This year the Ball High Track & Field program is off to a great start. Between the boys and girls, they are led by a group of extraordinary seniors.
On the boys’ side senior Aiven Coleman has emerged as one of the top sprinters in the state. Coleman is a 3-year letterman in track and is a valuable asset to the 4 x100m race. Senior Gabrial Jackson has burst onto the track from last year’s regional meet qualify in the 100m. Jackson has put in the offseason work to get in shape where he has developed into a natural sprinter.
Sophomore Marcus Walker has become a very important piece of the Boys Track & Field Program. Walker has become known as one of the best block starters in years and he also is one of the top 100m sprinters in the state. Junior Banks Goodmanson has come on the scene has one of the gifted discus throwers in the region. Goodmanson has the technique and strength to put great marks to place in the top 3 in the district.
There are many good athletes that are on the track team that drives this program to be the best. Senior Kairan Thorne (High Jumper and Long Jumper), Senior Anthony Rougeaux (400m), Senior William Leach (100m/200m), Senior Matthew Glenn (High Jumper), Senior Davon Merchant (Long Jump), Senior Logan Thrower (800m/1600m), Junior Braylin Caldwell (200m/400m), Junior Will Brindley (200m/400m), Junior Noah Legrand-Mixon (400m), Sophomore Corey Sanders Jr. (Shot Put and Discus), Freshman Michael Castro (200m/400m).
This year the Ball High Boys Track and Field 4 x100m, 4 x 200m and 100m (Coleman and Jackson) qualified for the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 29- April 1.
Head Coach Donovan Starks has done an amazing job building the girl’s track program. Coming off an awesome season last year with advancing in the 4 x 100m to the 5A Area 21/22 meet which has been done in over 15 years.
These girls have put in the hard work since day one which is led by Senior Takiyah Muhammad who is one of top 100m/200m in our district, Junior Dasani Newton who has develop into and hurdler and a sprinter putting her in a class of her own which very few could do, Junior Brook Holmes who has led the group with her leadership and toughness, Junior Jarien Garrett has come on the scene from dancing with the Tornette to become a very important asset to the program, Junior Torri Petteway who is on the verge to break the school record in High Jump.
The girl’s program has other well coached athletes: Senior Camron Weber (Pole Vault), Senior Maya McDaniel (Long Jumper), Senior Kaliyah Fontenot (100m), Senior Ayania Riggs (Shot Put/Discus), Senior Keylin Manning (Shot Put/Discus). This year the Ball High Girls Track and Field 4 x100m and High Jump (Tetteway) also qualified for the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 29- April 1.
All this would not be possible without a great group of coaches. Coach McNamara, Coach Lacy, Coach Wagner, Coach Aduddell have shaped this program into one of the best in the state of Texas.
