The Ball High volleyball team experienced a roller coaster of a season while initiating new players on the team after losing most of last year’s team to graduation.
“We lost nine players last year due to a large senior class, and we only had one senior this season, making our varsity team very young and inexperienced,” said Head Coach Michelle Norfolk. “We finished 5th in district this season. Our overall record was 16-19.”
According to Coach Norfolk, this year’s top players included junior outside hitter Avery Moore. “She led all hitters with 440 kills” Junior setter Madison Gaido “She hit a huge milestone this season with 2,000 career assists.
“Our lone senior, outside hitter Magnolia Malzahn, was second in attacks with 175 kills and on the right-side sophomore Katie Karsten. Katie is a first-year varsity player who put up an impressive 125 kills,” Norfolk added.
In spite of the losing season overall, Coach Norfolk expressed pride in her young team. “They came out ready to compete and surprised a lot of people. With having so many returning players next year and such impressive under-classmen in our program, the future looks very bright for Ball High Volleyball!”
