Kelso’s Trip to USS Texas
January 6, 2023
Staff and visitors at the Galveston Naval Museum paused Wednesday to remember the attack on the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, 81 years ago.
Audio from 1941 news broadcasts about the attack were played between moving musical selections before a wreath was placed between the museum’s two World War II-era vessels, the USS Stewart and USS Cavalla.
The USS Cavalla, a Gato class submarine, is credited for sinking the Japanese aircraft carrier Shōkaku, one of five Japanese aircraft carriers that launched planes that bombed Pearl Harbor.
