If I had to choose between Kamala Harris or Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential election, I would pick Harris. I feel neutral about the situation and find myself having agreements and disagreements within both parties. But even though both candidates have their pros and cons, I feel that Harris’ position for the country seems like the more sensible choice.
I support her reasons like trying to help in any way with the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, wanting to create a stable economy, having laws to protect the environment, and the fact that she expresses a genuine concern for the people’s wellbeing’s and the country- unlike what I have seen from Trump. Harris said, “You have to see and smell and feel the circumstances of people to really understand them.,” and “I’m opposed to any policy that would deny in our country any human being from access to public safety, public education, or public health, period.” These quotes from the vice president show her determination to keep the American people protected and accommodated.
Trump does not appear to be as interested in making a deeper connection with society, but rather seems to think on his own and what he considers as right for the country. “My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after,” is what he conveys in his 1987 book, Trump: The Art of the Deal.
I do not find his cockiness and arrogance to be endearing in the slightest, but I do agree with some of his policies such as lowering taxes, ending inflation, defending the country’s freedom, restoring peace in Europe and the Middle East, and stopping the migrant crime epidemic. But even with these positive approaches, I do not have enough trust in him after seeing what he has done during his time as president; especially throughout the COVID pandemic.
He singlehandedly increased the national debt by eight trillion dollars in a mere four years, appeared more worried about his own political standing than the public’s health – putting people at major risk after treating the virus as a normal flu and giving false information out, and basically left America in shambles with over 175,000 dead and five million infected from COVID by the time of August 2020.
Harris wins my vote.
