The Tors hosted the Lufkin Panthers in what was a back-and-forth game in the first half, but the Panthers pulled away with the win in the second half. Final 35-21. This win improved the Panthers to a record of 9-1 overall and 6-0 in district play, the Panthers’ first distinct title since 2019. Ball High finished their season with a 8-2 record, 4-2 in district.
Our Tors put up 264 yards on the offensive side and scored 21 points in the first half. The Panthers had a response for every Tor score, scoring three touchdowns on offense and a botched punt return, which the Panthers took advantage of and scored another touchdown, to take thelead 21-28 at the half.
In the second half everything started to go bad for the Tors. Lufkin held the ball tight in the second half, possessing the ball for 16 out of 24 minutes and held Ball High to only 115 yards. Lufkin ran 28 plays in the final two quarters and dominated the clock, The Tors were able to run 17 only plays in the second half.
Lufkin put up 356 yards of offense with 286 rushing yards and 70 passing yards. The Panther punter forced the Tors to start inside their own 10 three times, making it hard for the Tors to capitalize on offense.
