A vocal minority argues that Artificial Intelligence (AI) isn’t useful and poses a threat to humanity’s survival. However, AI has been around since the 1950’s and many people have found a multitude of ways for AI to help them with simple tasks at work or even at school.
Many innovative ways exist for people to use A.I. One of them is the introduction of vertical towers to grow crops instead of using vast plots of land to grow the same number of crops. The company Plenty Unlimited stated “Our A.I. based system makes it possible to grow produce with peak-season flavor, year-round, almost anywhere in the world.”
Fox News stated, “This is a groundbreaking development for sustainable agriculture. Plenty Richmond Farm is designed to produce more than four million pounds of strawberries annually in a space smaller than a single acre.
All the collected data is analyzed by the AI system, up to 10 million data points daily, then the system adapts to the grow room’s environment and evolves based on the needs of the plants.
The Towers take up less land, you can get four million pounds of strawberry from a room that’s only 40,000 square feet, that’s smaller than an acre. It is an amazing way of sustainability farming.
Vertical farms take up 97% less land and consume 90% less water. Using A.I means growers don’t have to work with bees. It creates less pollution and waste. Vertical farms will produce perfect year-round strawberries. Although this isn’t the first time we have seen vertical farming, we see how convenient it truly is and what tremendous benefits it can bring humanity.
With global population rising and available land shrinking, vertical farming could be important in our future.
