Women have suffered under the hands of men long enough, especially when it comes to physically feeling power over anyone you can get your hands on. Maybe that’s how Dr. David Diffine felt when he decided to use his position of authority over his staff, also considered his patients, to sexually manipulate and groom them for years.
Only recently has a complainant come forward with a video from 2019 of Diffine walking around the office nude, except for his baseball hat of course, in front of 3 female staff. He has even gone as far as to perform a sexual act on one of his female staff, all these videos taken during business hours. On Oct 13th the board suspended his license pending the investigation into this complaint, Dr. Bradley Diner wrote in the investigative documents “The pervasive behavior leads to concerns about a sexual compulsive disorder or paraphilia which may, in fact, cross boundaries with his delivery of medical care. Simply, the interaction with his office staff suggests an entanglement in his medical practice,” but I don’t care what he may have wrong in his head, I believe this situation falls on the medical board.
Earlier in the year Diffine had received a complaint about his social media presence, claiming he posted nude photos to his now-deactivated Instagram account @naked.drdave. Diffine responded “We do not shame, sexualize, fear, or negatively stigmatize the naked body,” saying he is a naturist, citing the practice as promoting body positivity.
The board chose not to take any action, simply putting it in his file for future reference.
Aside from his defiling acts, Diffine had already had his license suspended in 2017, while being investigated for over-prescribing and not keeping record of medications. Another failure from the board as there were signs again!
In Missouri in 2011, Diffine entered into a deferred prosecution agreement after he was investigated by the medical board and criminally charged for allegedly illegally distributing pain medications. The charges were dropped and Diffine agreed not to practice medicine for 3 years. 2 years later, the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts closed the matter in front of the medical board.
Alleged or not, confirmed or not, dropped by the board, it does not matter. Diffine has had many strikes and should never have been allowed back in the office to begin with.
