On June 25, 2024, China brought back specimens from the farthest side of the moon. The specimens were quickly analyzed and scientists found minerals accompanied by water in the loam.
Water being spotted on the Moon is not new to us; We know that there are 3 kinds of water found on the moon, the first being H2O, Frozen Form (Ice), and a molecule compound called hydroxyl. This groundbreaking discovery led us to understand the concept that water in physical form can be found on the farthest side of the moon.
This discovery is more than simply bringing cool samples from the moon, it opens our eyes to the significance of geological changes and the effects of interplanetary collisions. These samples may confirm the theories about the moon’s origin as well as the solar events like asteroids hitting planets creating new planetary forms.
China used the loam to their advantage by experimenting with the moon soil and turning it into moon bricks, blocks that are 3d printed out of moondust and concentrated sunlight. They plan to use the bricks manufactured on the moon instead of trying to transport the materials to build the moon base from earth.
They produce the bricks to erect their lunar base that will be used as a research facility and a window to our universe.
