“Belen Valdez started being recognized for her painting in first grade,” according to Belen’s art teacher Ms. Moore. “Belen is a highly skilled and prolific artist with amazing talent! She has won countless awards for her intense and edgy paintings in high school. She cites history as her favorite subject and uses vintage movies and Tim Burton as her inspiration for her paintings.
“She always listens to music as she works-jazz to heavy metal-she loves it all,” Moore continued. “She is currently designing tattoos and will seek an apprenticeship to be a licensed tattoo artist. She also will continue to gain certifications in welding. Belen sees herself working with her father in his businesses in Brownsville as what her future holds.”
