The judges awarded junior Belen Valdez first place in High School Art at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for her painting Family Business.
“I didn’t even know I won. I wasn’t there!”
Belen named her painting to honor her family and their vendor’s business that has been a big part of the rodeo for decades.
