Galveston ISD honored the head of the Ball High English Department, Ms. Aja Cormier as the GISD Teacher of the Year. Cormier. Beloved by her students, teaches English I, English I Honors and coaches the Cheerleading squad!
Ms. Cormier appeared thrilled with the honor. “I am so beyond grateful. I appreciate every single person who sent their congratulations and well wishes”.
Dacey Smith shared her opinion on Ms. Cormier as a teacher, “Ms. Cormier is a very nice and caring teacher, who is extremely dedicated to her students and her craft. She works hard to make sure that everybody feels included in her classroom”.
Ms. Cormier also gave thanks to her peers, “I especially want to thank my mom and aunts and uncles for traveling to celebrate. I would like to thank all my wonderful coworkers and my besties who also happen to be my coworkers for being the best people to work with every day.
“I also wanted to shout out, Dr. Hart, and Ms. Seiler because on Friday they surprised me with my own pep rally in my room to congratulate me. As well as Mr. Jones and Ms. Lirette for helping them. I can’t imagine working anywhere else. I love working in GISD. I love this community, and I love to be able to serve it”.
