The Tors baseball team kicked off 2025district play in a matchup with Angleton in what was a close game but fell short at the end, final 3-2; a precursor of the season to come.
Tor pitcher senior Austen Raines hurled a great game (6.2 innings, two walks, two hits, six walks,). The big right hander held a powerful line to only two runs. A pickoff try to 3rd led to Angleton tying the game up in the last inning before they pushed across the winning run.
In the second matchup of the year against Iowa Colony, the Tors fought hard until the end but again fell short in the 2-1 final.
That’s how the season began, snake bit out the gate; a missed hit here, a seeing eye single there, a walk here, an error there and the Tors’ season slowly spiraled away.
To end the 2025 season, the Tors played Santa Fe in their second matchup of the season, the first matchup not going their way 8-5, but the Boys of Summer bounced back the second game and won on the road 5-3. Ball High finished season 7-18.
Junior Cannon Chase led the team in batting average this year. “I had a great time playing with my buds for the last time.”
