American Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams traveled to space in June of 2024 and remain there to this day. The American Astronauts will be in space for 10 months come March 2025, which is when they are expected to return.
The Boeing Space Station launched a capsule to the moon to return the astronauts. Luckily, the capsule did land safely on the moon, but the astronauts expressed that the capsule had helium leaks and were not sure if they would survive the trip back to earth. The capsule returned empty.
Elon Musk’s Space X earlier launched a rescue mission to return the astronauts in February of 2025, but recent news stated that the return would be no earlier than march of 2025.
Wilmore and Williams continue to take advantage of the delay by sharing any new lessons learned from multiple failed attempts to send a capsule, such as leaks, malfunctions, etc.
