Civil rights icon Jesse Louis Jackson passed away February 17, 2026. Born October 18th, 1941, Jackson was one of many revolutionaries that advocated civil rights, the ideals of the Democratic party as he dived into the complexities of his time.
Jackson began his activism in the 1960s, becoming one of the most prominent civil rights leaders of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, as well as an ordained Baptist minister. Jackson expanded his work when he founded an organization that later formed Rainbow/PUSH, consisting of a group who wanted to save humanity, hence the name: People United to Save Humanity.
From 1991 to 1997, he served as a shadow delegate to the senator for the District of Columbia, and was the father of U.S. Representative Johnanthan Jackson and former U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. During his life, he did not only serve the community, but also made sure that his children succeeded, prompting them to go on and do amazing things.
On February 17th, 2026, Jackson passed away due to undisclosed circumstances. Although his death has created immense sadness and sorrow to his family, friends and supporters, what he achieved and all the things he accomplished when he lived will not be forgotten, but instead cherished and remembered through time.
