In a nation plagued by multiple tragedies, I believe the ICE situation sits atop the mountain of woes. These government funded agents, thugs in my opinion, arrest people no matter their status and brag about their bonuses while gassing children and detaining them.
The Grammys aired on February 1, 2026, and Billie Eilish and Bad Bunny were among the winners of the award show who used their acceptance speeches to candidly speak out against ICE. “No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said in her speech “It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I just I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter.”
Later Bad Bunny accepted the Album of the Year Award for his album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos”. Bad Bunny also used his acceptance speech to bring light and hope to the people abused by ICE. “Before I give thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” he said. “We’re not savage. We’re not animals. We’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans. Hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. We need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them, we love our people, we love our family and that’s the way to do it with love.”
Although not every winner spoke out at the Grammys, several stars including Justin and Hailey Bieber, Billie Eilish and Carole King wore “ICE Out” pins on the red carpet. Will this encourage more celebrities to voice their opinions, or will ICE convince celebrities to keep their mouths shut like the government wants? Time will tell.
