The Ball High baseball team hosted the Texas City Stingarees in a battle for the basement of District 20-5 A and the Stingarees prevailed despite some clutch hitting by the Tors in their last at bat in the bottom of the seventh.
The Tors three game winning streak against the Stingarees ended abruptly when the Stingarees batted around in the fourth inning and pushed four runs across the plate to grab the lead 4-0. That’s the way things stood when the Tors came to bat in the bottom of the seventh. The Tors scored three runs on three hits and two walks before Cannon Chase skied a fly ball to the infield that stranded two baserunners and ended the game.
The loss drops the Tors to 5-12-1 on the season, 0-4 in district play. Ball will welcome Alvin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
