Track and Field Head Coach Corey Sanders’ team enjoyed great success this season, sending four qualifiers past the District and Area meets to compete in the Regionals. Coach Sanders expounds on these remarkable student athletes.
“Senior Bella Medellin has been a varsity runner for three years and with her leadership and experience she knows how to win. Bella participates in several events such as 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump. Bella has done an amazing job in Track & Field which has led her into a Scholarship at Rome City Institute in France. Bella qualified in the 300m Hurdles and Long Jump at the UIL Region 3 5A & 6A Championship on May 1-2, 2026, at Challenger Stadium in Webster, TX.
“Senior Carman Harman is a high jumper who has stepped into the Track & Field program with high expectations and he did not disappoint. Carman is one of the top high jumpers in our area. Carman has put in numerous hours to work on his fundamentals and technique to improve his marks. Carman has improved in his jumps which he has PR at the Area 19/20 5A Championship with jumping 6’4. Carman also qualified in high jump at the UIL Region 3 5A & 6A Championship on May 1-2, 2026, at Challenger Stadium in Webster, TX.
“Sophomore Ra’Niya Pope is very talented young hurdler, and she brings some excitement to Track & Field. Ra’Niya has the potential to be one of the best hurdlers in the state of Texas, with her speed and technique making her dangerous in hurdles. Working out with her hurdles partner Bella has made her very competitive and for sure I would say Iron sharpen Iron. Ra’Niya has competed in our District 20 5A and Area 19/20 Championship and was very successful in the 100 hurdles which she was able to qualify in the 100 hurdles at the UIL Region 3 5A & 6A Championship on May 1-2, 2026, at Challenger Stadium in Webster, TX.
“Freshman phenom Maddison Scott stepped on the track this year and bought the competitiveness from cross country, which helps her reach Regionals in Cross Country. Maddison has the drive and determination to be one of the best long distance/ mid-distance runners in the nation. She knows how to put in extra hours and effort to get the most out of her workouts. Maddison is one of the most hardworking athletes that has so much potential that it’s scary to see what she will do her junior and senior year. Maddison qualified in the 800m at the UIL Region 3 5A & 6A Championship on May 1-2, 2026, at Challenger Stadium in Webster, TX.”
Congratulations to Coach Sanders and his amazing athletes!
