Swifting Rights

Taylor Swift has made a huge impact on women’s voting, impowering them to feel confident enough to take a stand and vote. The vote denying GOPers, and especially the MAGA crowd, absolutely hate Taylor Swift.

Swift has achieved what Republicans see as an abomination, inspiring over 35,000 young adults to register to vote with just one single social media post.

¨The younger generation is really starting to connect the dots between what they care about and participation numbers. When you have someone registering 30,000 votes at a time it absolutely can have an impact.” said Andrea Hailey, the CEO of nonpartisan Vote.org.

Sean Hannity of Fox News accused Swift of “misunderstanding Republican values” and urged her to not support President Biden. Right wing conspiracy nuts claim Swift is in cahoots with the Democrats to help Biden win the election later this year.

During these votes Ms. Swift has stayed neutral throughout, but she has made sure to speak up to her fan base. “I’ve been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my U.S. shows recently. I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year!” Swift commented on her Instagram post last fall.

For her part, Swift has ignored the right-wing critics and sent out an Instagram to her followers, “Voters gonna vote!” she began her message to her 275 million followers. “If you are registered to vote in Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas or Virginia, it’s time to use your voice.”

The Republicans fear the power Swift possesses and Swift fears the powers the MAGA crowd possesses, which is why she urged everyone to vote, no matter who you choose, participate in democracy.
