My Curly Hair Makes Me Who I Am

My+Curly+Hair+Makes+Me+Who+I+Am

Anyone with curly hair can understand the struggles that come with it. Curly hair itself is very different than straight hair because curly hair has a different pattern, texture, and thickness.

A major necessity to maintain curly hair is spraying it with water before detangling, to help define the curls and make the process easier. When it comes to my hair, I must touch it up multiple times throughout the day because it tends to frizz up. The products I use to maintain my hair the best is Eco gel, TRESemme Extra Hold Mousse, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, any Mielle leave-in conditioner and any soft bristle brush. After styling the hair, I always use a head scarf for about 15 minutes to keep my hair in place and to prevent any fly aways.

Many people with curly hair prefer to not use any harsh products in their hair because it can damage the curls. On the other hand, most of the time, I prefer to style my hair rather than leaving the curls loose. Depending on the style, I like to redo a hairstyle for a certain number of days before restyling. I feel as if it’s easier managed that way, rather than struggling to completely redoing a hairstyle every day.

Aside from the cons of having curly hair, there are pros that come with it, such as compliments and being a part of a diverse group of hair styles. Although having thinner, straighter hair may seem less difficult to deal with, thicker hair seems more beneficial to me. I’m genuinely happy with my hair type, and I know many people who feel the same way about their curly hair and wouldn’t trade their hair texture for the world. My curly hair makes me who I am.
