Tensions are high as anti-trans bills sweep across the United States. About 20 states are trying to pass anti-trans bills. Those states are: Nebraska, Florida, Tennessee, Montana, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Arizona, Iowa, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky, Utah, Texas, Indiana, Georgia, and West Virginia. From there, it gets far worse. States are banning gender-affirming healthcare for minors and people are even harassing children for “looking trans”. Transgender people are as much of humans as anyone else, they don’t deserve to be treated so harshly.
Something that really stuck out to me was this quote: “A nine-year-old girl was getting ready to take her turn at a shot-put event in British Columbia, Canada, when a belligerent 67-year-old man named Josef Tesar intervened and allegedly accused the girl of being a boy or transgender.” To make a long story short, a nine-year-old girl was trying out for soccer and the grandparent of another child allegedly yelled “at length” directly at the girl and claimed her short hair didn’t pass the Tesar test. In the end, they ended up going all the way back to her kindergarten records to make sure she was born a female. The whole situation is completely outrageous to me, because she was only nine and being harassed.
As said before, states are also trying to ban gender-affirming healthcare for transgender teens, and some states have almost passed those laws. For example, Kentucky passed an anti-trans bill that is to “Ban gender affirming care: The bill prohibits transgender youth from accessing best practice, age-appropriate medical care..”. The bill has been in effect since July 14th, 2023. It’s not just happening in Kentucky, it’s everywhere, even outside of the United States. It is an epidemic and the world is slowly turning against the youths of America; the people who will soon decide the future of our country.
