Semi-Finalist for the Coco Cola Scholarship October 31, 2023 Elaine Portal, Class of 2024, is getting ready for college, through this she applied for the Coco Cola Scholarship. Cat Rogers, a counselor at Ball High says that Elaine Portal is a semi finalist for the scholarship and “Over 103,800 students submitted applications from across the country this year and less than 1.5% advanced as Semifinalists”, so congratulations Elaine Portal!

When asking Elaine Portal on how it feels to be a part of the 1.5% applicants who advanced as a semifinalist when over 103,800 students applied for this scholarship, Portal said that “I feel very proud of myself because I was able to stand out in such a large number of applicants”.

According to Rogers, “Elaine Portal is an outstanding and involved student at Ball High. Elaine is part of the top 10% percent of her class.”

Portal received her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in her junior year through the PCT (Patient Care Technician). She’s an active member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. Elaine is also a strong 3-year varsity athlete in the Lady Tors soccer team.

Portal plans to attend Sam Houston State University, majoring in Forensic Science and she plans to graduate with her PhD in hand. Asked what she’ll do with the Coco Cola Scholarship if she wins the award, she said that she’ll use it at “Sam Houston State University to pursue my career in Forensic Science”.

Elaine Portal is a bright and intelligent student, who has a bright future ahead of her. Elaine, we wish you luck for what’s to come and hope you get the Coco Cola Scholarship! Congratulations!
