Disney “Cars” Comes to Life

As if the hit movie from Disney, “Cars” didn’t make an impact, self-driving tech company Aurora plans to release self-driving 18- wheelers hauling supplies to be used on Texas highways starting in 2024. Jason Leu, vice president of Aurora Services, claims: “Really, our mission is to deploy the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly,”

This process has been in the works for nearly a decade, and the company continues to fine tune the technology to make it a safer place to be used on highways. Towards the end of 2024, trucks are said to start using highways. The company also claimed that there are already self- driving trucks on the road now, but they have supervision overseeing the safety of the operation.

This not only brings about the many risks driverless cars already create, but also eliminates the jobs of people who work in the truck driving industry.

Seriously, why does everything have to be run by technology? Can’t we just go back to people bagging our groceries for us, and driving their own cars? Technology is getting out of hand, and it is only a matter of time before we start seeing the consequences of this innovation.
